Water Softeners
Ion-exchange softeners that stop scale on geysers, kettles and shower glass, sized once a hardness test shows the water needs it.
How we approach water softeners
A water softener removes the calcium and magnesium that cause scale on geysers, kettles, shower glass and appliances. Most work by ion exchange: a resin swaps the hardness minerals for sodium and is regenerated automatically with salt.
Softeners make sense where hardness is genuinely high, as on many borehole supplies and in parts of Gauteng, rather than on naturally soft water. We test hardness first and size the softener to the household's daily use.
What to check before buying
Softening is worth it only when hardness is genuinely high.
Scale prevention
Protects geysers, kettles and appliances from limescale.
Ion exchange
Resin removes hardness and regenerates automatically with salt.
Sized to use
Capacity is matched to measured hardness and daily water use.
FAQs
Questions before we quote
How do I know if my water is hard?
White scale in kettles, on shower glass and around taps, and soap that does not lather well are the common signs. A hardness test confirms it.
Is softened water safe to drink?
For most people, yes, although it contains a little added sodium. Many homes keep an unsoftened or filtered tap for drinking water.
Does a softener need maintenance?
The salt needs topping up and the unit should be checked periodically. Regeneration itself is automatic.
